Played three seasons at Boston University and led the Terriers to an NCAA title in 1978. He was an All-American selection his last year and was also named all-East and all-New England. Had an outstanding World Tournament while playing for the U.S. National team in Moscow in 1979.
Jim, the starting netminder on the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team that upset the Soviet Union and Finland en route to capturing the gold medal. Following the 1980 Olympics, Jim joined the Atlanta Flames and registered a victory in his first start. Jim played parts of three seasons in the NHL with the Flames, Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars.
The North Easton, Massachusetts native was the fourth choice of the Atlanta Flames in the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. Jim played briefly in the American Hockey League with the Erie Blades during the 1981-82 season. Jim retired from professional hockey following the 1983-84 season.
Jim now lives in his hometown of North Easton, Massachusetts, where he grew up. He is a successful businessman and consultant. Jim Craig currently works for Valassis Communications and has earned many awards with the marketing services firm. Craig is married to his wife of 10 years, Sharlene, and he spends most of his free time coaching the T-ball, soccer and hockey teams of his nine-year-old son, J.D., and his six-year-old daughter, Taylor.
