At Boston University, O'Callahan a four year letter-winner where he captained the Terriers during the 1977-78 season. He was a first team All-America selection in 1978, and was the main cog in leading BU to a national title in 1978. He had six assists in the NCAA championships that year and was named MVP of the tourney. Other honors he garnished while at BU were: all-ECAC (1978 and 79), New England's outstanding defenseman (1978 and 79), MVP Beanpot Tournament (1978), and BU's top student-athlete in 1978. Played on 1978 and 1979 U.S. National teams. Attended Boston Latin High School where he earned all-city and all-scholastic honors.
Defenseman Jack O'Callahan played nearly 400 NHL games for the Chicago Black Hawks and New Jersey Devils during the 1980s. He was adept at moving the puck up to his forwards and relished playing a physical game in his own end.
O'Callahan was a key player at Boston University for three years. After enjoying a solid freshman year in 1976-77, the young defenseman was chosen 96th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks at the NHL Amateur Draft. During the next two seasons he scored 77 points and was voted on to the ECAC first all-star team both years. O'Callahan was a integral member of the Terrier's 1978 national championship. He was named the most valuable player of the NCAA championship tournament and placed on the competition's all-star team. Following his senior year he was named an NCAA east first-team all-American and suited up for the U.S. team that finished seventh at the 1979 World Championships.

After a 7 year NHL career with Chicago and New Jersey. Jack operates Beanpot Financial Services at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
